Understanding the Scriptures

Holy Family Hall 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI, United States

The class will be a survey of key texts from the Old and New Testaments. We will approach the text from more of an academic perspective using the historical theological methodology of the Quadriga, which are the four senses of Scripture taught by the Church Fathers. Class time will be a mixture of lecture on background information and interpretation-focused discussion. The Bible Timeline

In The Bible Timeline from Ascension Press: The Story of Salvation, presenter Jeff Cavins will show you how fourteen of the Bible’s narrative books tell the biblical story from beginning to end. Using a unique color-coded chart, you will learn the major people, places, and events of the Bible and discover how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our faith. The Bible Timeline will teach you how to read and understand the Bible and introduce you to the Wonderful Narrative of the Bible in a way that will transform your life. The group will meet Thursday, September 8-December 15 (excluding November 24) from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Limit 10 attendees. CANCELLED: Jesus invites each of us into the adventure of an extraordinary life with Him. Learn how to extend this invitation to others at My Parish Matters, a training on sharing the Gospel with people you care about and inviting them into our parish community from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 10 at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way. Registration begins at 8:30 am.  The morning will be one of inspiration, practical training, and prayer. When you attend, you will be able to choose one of two tracks to learn from: The Parish Track: Training to make your parish a community where all are invited, welcomed, accompanied, and engaged in practically living our faith. Personal Track: Training to help your friends and family encounter Jesus & his Church and choose to follow as a disciple. The cost is $10 to attend. Blue Mass

Holy Family Catholic Church 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI, United States

All police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, emergency dispatchers, and EMS personnel are invited to attend Holy Family Catholic Community's Blue Mass at 10:00 am on Sunday, September 11 at Holy Family Church. The Mass will honor all those who serve and protect our community in the public safety field, and pray for their future protection. This Mass is celebrated annually throughout the United States in Catholic Churches for those employed in the public safety field. The color blue relates to the blue-colored uniforms predominately used by these services and were celebrated for the first time in the United States in 1934. Those who attend are encouraged to wear their uniforms and have a flag to representing their agency in the Gathering Space. A reception will follow with refreshments.

Six-Week Balance and Mobility Class

Please note: This class is now full and we are not taking anymore registrations. Mary Jo Neumann will help you gain strength and balance in her six-week Balance and Mobility Class. The function of balance and mobility training is to help a person feel safe when moving from place to place.  The class will take place from 10:00 to 10:30 am on Mondays, September 12, 19, & 26, and October 3, 10 &17 in Holy Family Hall.  Participants should be able to walk without assistive devices, such as canes, walkers, and wheel chairs. Tennis shoes and comfortable clothes recommend. Bring own water bottle. Registration limited. Register by contacting the Parish Office at (920) 921-0580. The program free for parishioners.

Exploring the Sunday Readings

This is a Bible Study for looking at the upcoming Sunday Readings. Each week will use the investigations and comments of bible scholars to learn the significant insights in each set of Sunday readings. We will further discuss and share how these readings apply to us and add enrichment to our lives. A great way to prepare for Sunday Mass! Group limited to six participants. Widows Reaching Out to Widows

Those who are widows are invited to come to Holy Family Hall from 4:00 to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13 to learn more about the parish's newly developing group for widows, Widows Reaching Widows. At this kick-off meeting, those who attend will discuss and plan for what the future of the group will look like. St. Ambrose Men’s Group That Man is You!

You are invited to join dozens of men every Wednesday morning from 5:30 to 6:45 am in the Holy Family Hall, 271 Fourth Street Way, for Men's Group running from September 14 to December 14. That Man is You! honestly addresses the pressures and temptations that men face in our modern culture, especially those relating to their roles as husbands and fathers. The St. Ambrose Men's Group hosts "That Man is You" every Wednesday. The morning includes a full breakfast, a video for the program at 6:00 am, and a small group discussion. Anointing Mass

All those experiencing illness are invited to attend Holy Family Catholic Community's Anointing Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 15 at Sacred Heart Church. The sacrament, which confers God's grace through the Holy Spirit on those who are ill, can be offered more than once if a person's condition has worsened or became ill once again. It is administered bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death.

Women’s Ministry Kick-Off Event

  Join Holy Family Catholic Community for its Women's Ministry Kick-Off at 6:00 pm Thursday, September 15 at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way. The night will begin at 6:00 pm with Mass, followed by snacks and a social in the hall, and a talk from Anne Auger on "Beauty-full: The Gifts of Womanhood." Anne graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a Masters Degree in 2003. She has worked extensively in both the Milwaukee and Madison dioceses in RCIA, Adult Catechesis, Youth Ministry and Religious Ed programs. The sister of Fr. John Paul Mitchell, Anne is a wife and mother of six children and serves as the Director of Religious Education for her parish in Sullivan, WI. She is an instructor at the Seat of Wisdom Institute in Madison and runs her own small business with over 500 customers. Anne has been a keynote speaker at many parishes and Catholic organizations.
